Walden Cross Country and Fitness Club (WCCFC) Para Nordic / Adaptive Skiing program’s goals are to improve fitness, stay healthy, be involved and train longer so you can see improvements from day to day.
How to get started: Come out and meet us! We train every Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 pm from May to March 31st.
The objective of this program is to help you understand and develop an athletic awareness and learn how to move with ease. The coaches lead you through strength, agility, reaction time, and awareness exercises to help increase your core strength. You will have the opportunity to ski (snow) roller ski (dry land), sitting or standing and to do other aerobic activities to increase your stamina and endurance.
Programs are for individuals with special needs such as those with cerebral palsy, MS, spina bifida, spinal cord injuries, visual impairment, brain injury to name a few…
We have helped our athletes compete at the Canada Winter Games (CWGS) for Ontario and come home with medals and top 5 places at the 2011 CWGS; Ontario ParaSport Summer Games silver medal in 100 meters and students participating in local High School Teams at Cities, NOSA, OFSAA and bringing home medals. Athletes from our program have been recognized as Athlete of the Year at their school’s Athletic’s Awards.
